La nostra scuola

Our Istituto Comprensivo “Massarosa 2” includes: 4 Kindergartens, 4 Primary Schools and 1 Comprehensive School.
The students are almost 1 thousand and there are about 120 teachers. One Kindergarten and one Primary school are situated in Piano di Mommio, a little village near Piano di Conca. One Kindergarten and one Primary School are situated in Corsanico, a very little village on the hills near Piano di Conca. From Corsanico you can have a very splendid view of Versilia landscape.
Corsanico is famous for its music society and concerts.

One Kindergarten and one Primary School are in Stiava, a village ten minutes far from Piano di Conca.

Our Primary School is in Piano di Conca. There's a Kindergarten next to it. And there's also the head office of our Istituto Comprensivo Massarosa2. In five minutes we can also reach the Comprehensive School. This is the main entrance. Here our parents leave us in the morning and come to take us home in the afternoon. At the ground floor there are 5 classrooms, the school canteen, the teachers' room and a big hall.

This is the teachers' room. Every morning they come here to sign on an attendance notebook. Here there's a multimedial board. Every class can use it in order to reinforce the pupuils' learning There are 9 classes in the school. The canteen is not so big. That's why some classes have lunch at 12 and the others at 13. We have lunch at school everyday. We always finish lessons at 4,30 pm. From Monday to Friday cooks prepare delicious meals for us and for the teachers. We are lucky because most of the Italian schools haven't got their own kitcken. They get food from outside kitckens

This is the hall where we play during the break.

At the first floor there are 4 classrooms and the computer room.

This is the garden where we play when the weather is beautiful. We can see the Comprehensive school from here. To do P.E. we have to go to the Comprehensive School gym.Unfortunately there isn't a gym in our school. The Kindergarten is over there. Our school has good relationships with these schools. The teachers do projects that involves both the Kindergarten and the Comprehensive School. They work togheter especially with the classes that are at the last year of kindergarten and of Primary school to make easier the passage from the Kindergarten to the Primary School and from the Primary School to the Comprehensive School.
Piano di Conca, Stiava, Piano di Mommio and Corsanico are part of Massarosa Our best wishes to all the Comenius partners! We wait for your visit next year! Bye bye Pupils and teachers

History of Massarosa

About 20 thousand inhabitants live in Massarosa. It is characterized by a hill landscape with many olive trees.

This frames the enchanting Massaciuccoli lake so loved by Giacomo Puccini, the great composer!
There are some medieval towers, some Romanesque churches and some eighteenth-century villas, too.

Massarosa history begins in the III (third) century B.C. At first Apuani tribes settle in this place. They were very warlike people.
Then Romans arrived. They were searching for the furthest communication route to reach Cisalpine Gallia. At that time the sea arrived till the mountains.

The sea air was so healthy that Romans built thermal baths here. In Massaciuccoli there are still remains of roman baths.
After Romans Longobardi settle here. They divided this land in big properties called masse. The name of Massarosa derived from Massagrausi that means: “Property of Grauso”, a Longobardo sir. From 932 till XVIII century Massarosa was under the domain of Lucca canon . In 1869 the town reached its municipal indipendence. Before it belonged to Viareggio council
